Music and songs

I've always been a music lover. Now, I can't sing worth beans, play a note or play any sort of instrument but I still love music. As a commuter, I get to plug myself into my iPod and listen to all my favourite songs everyday. Sometimes I think that songs have a very special message just for me. When my older brother passed away one song that was constantly on the radio was "You'll be in my heart" by Phil Collins. To this day whenever I hear that song it brings tears to my eyes as I remember my brother.

The day we got the news that we got Ministry approval I was walking to the train station plugged into my iPod as usual and the first song to play was "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey and the second song to play was "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge. A sign? Maybe...hopefully.

I've been thinking as well about songs that future parents like us can use (e.g. adoptive parents) because usually the wait to become parents is so much longer and much more anticipated. So here is the list I've come us with for now:

I Knew You Were Waiting for Me: George Michael and Aretha Franklin (my personal favourite)
Dreams Come True: Frozen Ghost
What a Wonderful World: Louis Armstrong
In My Daughter's Eyes: Martina McBride
I Hope You Dance: Lee Ann Womack
I Knew I Loved You: Savage Garden
There Can Be Miracles: Whitney Huston and Mariah Carey
When I See You Smile: Bad English

Does anybody have any others?

I'm not a big song girl and I'm more of a 680 news hound, but there are a few songs that touch my heart when I hear them (especially in light of our adoption).
1. Fix You - Coldplay
"When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you"

2. Breathe - Anna Nalick
"'Cuz you can't jump the track, we're like cars on a cable and life's like an hourglass glued to the table. N one can find the rewind button girl, so cradle your head in your hands and breathe."

3. Blackbird - Sarah McLaughlin
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.

4. Daughters - John Mayer
I know a girl
She puts the color inside of my world
but she's just like a maze
Where all of the walls all continually change

And I've done all I can
To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands
Now I'm starting to see
Maybe it’s got nothing to do with me

Fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too

5. Love's Divine - Seal
Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still

I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Okay, I have to stop or else I'll take over this whole thing and you'll be sick of me. :)
