Almost done

The renovations are coming along slowly but surley. The room is pretty much all painted. Shawn was painting the trim I'll give it another coat tonight. After that it's installation. Yipeee!

Notice the black pipe is gone, Shawn's handy work. Pretty impressive for a techie.

At work, we have an intern that sitting close by where I sit. Over the past few weeks, I've been getting to know Nina. I told her that her that Shawn are in the process of adopting a baby from China and she in turn has taken to telling me about Chinese culture and has even tried to teaching me how to say happy new year in Mandarin and Cantonese. Nina told me that she thinks it's a good thing what Shawn and I are doing and that really means a lot to me. I've often thought about what someone who is of Chinese descent would think of a non-Chinese adopting a baby from China so it does ease my mind a bit.

Nina has been very good to me. She gave me these little decorations made of jade. I hope you can see it, they're in the shape of kitty cats! I know jade is considered to be lucky in the Chinese culture so I told Nina that I'm going to hang them on the curtain rod that we have decided will be the nursery. Hopefully it will bring us luck in that things will speed up. One can only hope.

I know what you mean about worrying what someone from China would think about it. I'm glad she was happy, it would ease my mind too.

Love your reno! Good job! Wanna do mine? :-)

Tonight we ate at a restaurant where all of the employees are directly from China. I told one of the women named Gina that we are adopting from China and we ended with some very supportive ladies around our table!

I'm glad that you have a friend who you can share with.

Love the paint color! Nina sounds like a gentle soul and it certainly is nice for a grown Chinese woman to think it's wonderful, very sweet that she brought you jade.
