Weekend celebrations

The celebrations started on Friday. We went to Shelley and Harold's for a communal birthday party. There are a lot of summer birthdays in Shawn's family so to make things easier, Shelley holds one big party for everyone. It was great getting together with everyone being able to laugh and joke around with everyone. Always fun.

On Saturday, we went to my cousin's place to celebrate his little girl's Rachel's birthday. She is now a grand total of four years old. I still remember when she was born. We were trying to decide if we should go to the hospital or wait until they got home. Rachel was born at the tail end of the SARS epidemic and we weren't sure if they were letting people into the hosptial or not that didn't need to be there. We ended up waiting until they got home. I remember thinking how little she was. My mom loved holding her too. She was in her element with babies (she did have four kids after all). Now she's starting kindergarten in September.

In the evening we went over to our Natasha and Deepesh's house as today is Natasha's birthday, so I'd like to say "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!". Natasha's brother was there with his little girls and the older one, C, fell in love with Shawn. She wouldn't leave his side and insisted that he read her stories, play soccer with her and go for a walk with her. It was very cute.

Then on Sunday was my big day! We invited friends and family over for my 21st birthday (don't laugh!). I love having people over at our place, I go all Martha Stewart trying to make everything "just so". It's a sickness, yes but I enjoy it. We had a BBQ with all the trimmings! I must give a big thank you to Shawn who organized the BBQ and got everybody over to our place, including Kathy and Joel, K1 and K2, Rhonda and Josh and Lisa, Craig and their Special K. It was so great seeing them again.

Here are some pictures from the big day.
