Beautiful feet

My little man is going to be okay. We went to the hospital again tonight. It's not meningitis, thankfully. It is some sort of bacteria, I don't know the exact name of it but it was one that Isabel was tested for at 36 weeks and she was negative. Sometime between that test and Sunday she developed the bacteria and as he was being born, he caught it. Thankfully Isabel and Mark were on the ball and saw quickly that something was wrong. They caught it quick which helped too. Little man comes from a long line of fighters and survivours so I know he'll be just fine. It just sucks that he's had such a rough start.

Check out the size of his feet! That's Isabel's finger beside those monster feet. Lucas also had pretty big feet when he was born too.

We've had a lot of rough times these past few years. One thing I've focused on that helped me get through it is four little words and today I passed those words with this story to my sister.

King Solomon once searched for a cure against depression. He assembled his wise men together. They meditated for a long time and gave him the following advice: Make yourself a ring and have thereon engraved the words "This too shall pass". The King carried out the advice. He had the ring made and wore it constantly. Every time he felt sad and depressed, he looked at the ring, whereon his mood would change and he would feel cheerful.

I went to the mall and had those four little words engraved on a ring and got one made for me too. It's hard to make out in this picture but they are there. I saw Isabel slip the box into her pocket as we both fought back our tears. I then saw her quietly slip the ring on. It made me smile and I hope those four words bring her the same comfort they bring me.

Yes, this too shall pass, my friend. What a beautiful present for your sister. I'm so glad that you've been able to be there for her, and that the little one is going to be ok.

What a beautiful gift with a great story behind it. We often say those words when the kids are going through "a phase". It really does help to know that whatever we're going through won't last. What a blessing that you're able to be there for your sister and family during this stressful time.
