I've been going through several videos and poems, trying to decide which one would most appropriately reflect the debt that we owe our veterans and I couldn't find one. There are a lot, but none could express what I wanted to say.
Two years ago, my brother in law was in Afghanistan. While he wasn't on the front lines, he was still in Afghanistan. I remember the day my sister asked me if I would go overseas with her if anything happened. I remember shaking as I agreed. I asked the powers that be to please not let that happen, to let Mark come home safe and sound. He did, other families weren't as fortunate.
This years mark the 90th anniversary of the Treaty of Versailles, bringing and end to the first World War, the war to end all wars. At 11:00 AM, I will observe a minute of silence and remember those that have fought for the freedoms I enjoy today in this great country of ours. Unfortunately, freedom is not free, it does come at a great price. Let us not forget that and let us today remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we wouldn't have to.
