New Venture

While I enjoy making different things and crafting, I am pretty shy about showcasing what I make.  It took me a while to make this decision but after much encouragement I have opened an Etsy shop.  It's not fully "stocked" yet, I hope to have that done in the next week or so.

In celebration of the grand opening, I have a giveaway happening on my Facebook page.  If you would like to enter into the draw, either leave a comment here or on the page or get a friend to join me there.

I'm excited about this venture!  I just hope it goes well.

Double the good news!

I have two pieces of very good news! First of all, we've finally made it out of the review room, officially! And it only took 16 and 3/4 months to get there. Rhonda was kind enough to follow up with our agency to confirm all this for us. This is great because now the CC@@ have also deemed us worthy of parenthood. Even though I know we still have a long wait ahead of us before we get our referral, at least this is one more step we don't have to worry about.

In other news, I got a job!!! It's for an oil and gas company (hard to get away from them here), in my field, with a great pay increase. It sounds like it's a great place to work as the two people who were interviewing me were also laughing and joking around with me. I'm a bit nervous because I haven't started a new job in a long time but after three months off with no income, it'll be good to get back into a routine.

Lest We Forget

It is the VETERAN , not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN , not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN , not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN , not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote.

May a perpetual light shine upon our veterans.

Tick Tock

The building across the street from where I work houses the administrative offices of one of the largest banks in the country. Usually something I don't even think about. Today however, there was some cause for concern.

I got back from lunch and when I looked out the window and saw that the street had been blocked off by the police and the employees were all on the street. A few minutes later there were two huge firetrucks in front of the building and mine. One of my co-workers went outside to try to find out what was going on. Turns out there was a bo*mb threat. Two bo*mb squads were called in to diffuse the situation (figuratively and literally). Made for an interesting afternoon that's for sure.

There was no need to panic though. Turns out the culprit was nothing more than an alarm clock.

Now I'm REALLY ticked off

As Kathy, Rhonda, and Nicole have stated in their blogs and as it's been mentioned in the news, there's been a massive recall of pet food due to contamination in certain dog and cat foods. I took a look at the list and saw that none of Jazz's food was on the list so I felt safe with what we were feeding her.

Last week we took Jazz to the vet to get her bloodwork and blood pressure checked. We talked to the vet about the pet food recall and she asked us what we were feeding her. We told her and she gave us crap for it because apparently it's full of sugar and fat. So trying to be the responsible pet owners we are we decided to start her on the vet pet food. We figured we'd be safe with the vet stuff too in light of what's been going on. We bought a case of the stuff. Now I read online that the vet stuff has also been recalled! I've been feeding it to my cat for a week now! Needless to say, we're going back to the crap food. It might be crap food but at least it's not poisoned.

Jazz seems ok right now. I'll keep everyone posted.
