Thankful

Today is Thanksgiving here in Canada.  I've been thinking a lot about what I have to be thankful for.  Even though there are days that are rough I do have a lot to be thankful for.

  • I'm thankful for the wonderful and supportive husband I have.  He lets me get away with a lot.  And I mean a lot.
  • I'm thankful for my family who love and support any decision I make.
  • I'm thankful for our crazy dog who keeps me on my toes.
  • I'm thankful for the love of our friends.  I don't know what I'd do without their support and encouragement.
  • I'm thankful for a job that I enjoy with colleagues who are spectacular.
  • I'm thankful to live in a country where I can express any opinion I want and not get arrested for it.
  • I'm thankful to have had wonderful role models growing up.
  • I'm thankful we don't have any toxicity in our lives.
  • I'm thankful for the hope each new day brings.

Birthday Thank You!

Thank you everyone who left an message on my blog, Facebook, and email! It's been such a crazy day. I got home today after two days on the road, so I am TIRED! I got to see many parts of rural Alberta and Saskatchewan. As nice as it was to meet some of our employees in the field, if I never see another bale of hay it will be too soon.

My sister and her family came by on Tuesday since I wasn't sure what time I'd be home today. Shawn got me Queen SingStar and we played it then, what a riot! Not that I can sing but what a blast trying to get through Bohemian Rhapsody with a straight face.

Oh yes, and for the record, still 21 ;).

Thank You!

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes! I have the best bloggy friends...ever!

My sister, brother-in-law and nephews will be coming by in a bit for a BBQ and other birthday celebrations. Shawn came by after work and picked me up with a beautiful bouquet of flowers (pictures to follow). All in all, a good day :).

Oh yeah, in case anyone is wondering, I'm still 21.

Halloween Thanks **UPDATE**

Thank you everyone once again for all your thoughtful comments and the emails. It means a lot to me knowing I have people who understand me, let me vent, act all crazy and are still there for me the next day. Poor Shawn, his shoulder is sopping wet from me crying all over him. I guess October 29th will always be a rough day for me, I just hope I'm able to cope better in the future.

I hope everyone out there is having a great and safe Halloween. It's been fun seeing all the kids dressed up in their little costumes and even funnier seeing the parents dressed up. One of them really freaked me out, he dressed up like Jason and there was a little too much resemblence. Yikes! I can't wait for the day when I can take out our kid all dressed up.

I almost forgot! Today is one year that we've been DTC. Not that it really matters as I don't feel that we're really any closer to our child than we were a year ago. Congratulations to Michelle and Mark as well, our friends and travel mates.

Overwhelmed

I am feeling completely and utterly overwhelmed by the amount of support I received over the past couple of days. I cried as I read every post and email. Thank you so much!

Like many of my fellow bloggers, I sometimes feel the need to censor myself just in case the wrong people are reading my blog. I didn't want to post about certain things in my life just in case. After much thought, I think it's ok to go ahead and post about some of the frustrations I've been feeling because, the people I worried about aren't worth worrying about anymore.

One of the biggest frustrations in my life recently has been work. The past couple of years have been tough. We got a new management team and ever since then it's been downhill. The axe has been falling left, right and centre. I thought I was safe but last year, just after Shawn and I decided to start our adoption process I was told that my position was being axed but there was another position that was opening up so I could take that one or I could be out the door. After talking to Shawn, I decided to take the job even though it was a lower level than the one I had because it was a job that would pay the bills until we got the baby. At the time of course, we were still under the impression the whole process was going to be quick.

I went over and things went well. Then my manager decided to take early retirement. In the great wisdom that our management team has, rather than try to find someone who is experienced and knows how to be a manager they decided to hire someone right out of school with no management experience and no people experience. It's been nothing short of an excruciating experience with her. I won't go into detail here, I don't want my stomach to get into knots over this while I'm at home. Let me just say, it's been really bad and of course I'm the one with the problem, even though I've worked with two other managers at the same organization and never had a problem with either of them.

I'm really mad at myself more than anything. I let her get to me and that makes me upset at myself. I try to tell myself that it's just a job, just a paycheck, but my personality isn't like that. When I see things that aren't right, I get very upset. I'm working on it though, I will try to not let work get to me like that again. It's just a job, it's not my real life.

This past weekend as well marked the 9 month anniversary since my mom passed away. I haven't been able to handle it very well. God I miss her so much. I wish she was here to hold my hand.
