Thank you's and some good news

Thank you everybody for your supportive comments. There are still days when it's all I can do to get out of bed in the mornings. It hasn't even been four months since my mom passed away. There are still so many things that remind me of her, even going to the grocery store is hard. I still have melt downs when I walk in because I remember of all the times we would take her and she would send us on these expeditions looking for things like "that cream cheese that's named after the American city". She meant Philadelphia cream cheese. My mom always forgot the name of it.

In the midst of all this though we do have some very good news. My brother in law Mark has returned home safe and sound after a tour in Afghanistan! He is a doctor in our armed forces and was sent overseas last August. He arrived home very late Thursday evening and was reunited with my sister Isabel and my adorable nephew Lucas. I'm so happy he's back home! It's been a real strain on Isabel having him so far away and in such a dangerous place. I know Lucas missed him as well, apparently he hasn't stopped following him around, even into the bathroom. I've posted a picture that Mark took in Kandahar at Christmas. I think some of my fellow canuks will recognize the guy standing beside him. For those who don't, click here.

Dolores, four months is such a short time. Take all the time you need to work through the pain of her loss and know that there is no time limit for grief.
I am so happy to hear that your BIL is home safe and sound. I love the pic of Rick Mercer and him! So cool!

I'm happy that your BIL is home at long last!

Take all the time you need. Having lost my father almost 21 years ago, I know that it does get 'easier'. While the pain never really goes away, it does lessen over time.

Good looking brother in law. If only I was a single gal.

I should actually read things; I read 'brother-in-law' and I looked at the picture and thought, "Wow, her brother-in-law is Rick Mercer!" Duh.

Your pain is still so fresh and you're still grieving, so don't give yourself such a hard time.

And I'm glad your BIL made it home safely to his family.

Go easy on yourself - everyone has a different time line for mourning the loss of a loved one. While the pain will never go away, it will lessen over time.

Know that we are all here for you!

Oh, Dolores, I didn't get a chance to get to your blog until tonight. I'm sorry that it is still so hard for you about your mom. Trust me, it does get easier, but it will take time. And tears. Just let yourself grieve.

I'm so glad that your brother is home! That must be a huge relief to you! We owe all our service men and women a debt of gratitude.

Hang in there, sweetie.

Janet

PS- I loved your story about your mom and the cream cheese. Sounds like my mom!

Yey what happy news!! Glad to hear that Mark is back where he belongs, with his family.

I just got word that my cousin has been sent over.

A big thank you to Mark for looking after our fellow Canadians.

dolores, I am glad to hear that you were reunited with your brother safe and sound!!

And it is okay to still find some days difficult.......grief does not have a time line, so you take as long as you need too and cry as often as you need too.....it's good for the soul!

Glad to hear that Mark is home safe and sound!!!! Such a relief for your family. Cool picture!! We love Mercer in our house. I echo other's thoughts - four months is such a short time when you have had such a great loss. Give yourself time to grieve and to remember what a great lady your Mom was and is in your heart. Big hugs!!!!!!!!!!!

Time can be a healer but it also does not erase the pain. Take what you need, do what you need. Step by step.

I am happy that your BIL made it home safe and sound.

Keep smilin!
