Happy Lunar New Year!

We'd like to wish everyone a very Happy Lunar New Year! This year is the year of the Rat, both Shawn and I were born in the year of the Rat. Some characteristics of the Rat include:

Intelligent, adaptable, quick-witted, charming, artistic, sociable. I think it describes us to a tee ;). (Kidding, ego isn't one of our characteristics).

Updates all around

I would like to post a very belated thank you to both Rhonda and Kathy for the very beautiful and thoughtful Chinese New Year cards. They are the first that we've ever received, hopefully the beginning of many.

We've also mad progress in the powder room. We've got the walls primed and the ceiling painted. the pictures aren't very exciting right now, but here they are. We're going to try to have a least one coat placed on the walls tomorrow, then depending how quickly the paint dries.

We went today to make our RRSP contribution. This year we're going to be smarter and make monthly payments instead one lump sum in February which is what we usually do.
Lots of squishes have been coming through as well. I haven't updated the blog I created for the quilt squares but I should get around to that soon.
Other than that, we're just hanging out watching American Idol because all my other favourite shows have been put on hiatus because of American Idol, so if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Lunar New Year Celebrations

Yesterday Shawn and I went to the Lunar New Year party put on by Children's Bridge, the adoption agency. At the party we finally met Rhonda and Josh, Nicole and Tim, Paula and Brett, and Rebecca and Steve and of course Michelle and Mark. It was such a pleasure meeting all of them! I felt bad for Rhonda, Josh, Nicole and Tim, they got stuck bringing almost all the food for the party, which included 600 dumplings in an Accord, but they managed to do it. Shawn and I helped out at the pig mask table. The gang was kind enough to hang out with us while we waited for the kiddies to come by. Some even pitched in a created their own masks. Can you guess who?

At one point we even had a party crasher! The community centre has a library attached to it and I saw lady sit at the mask table with a bunch of library books and some food. She then proceeded to ask Mark what was going on. We (Rhonda, Michelle, Mark and I) all looked at each other dumbfounded. But Mark being the nice guy he is proceeded to talk to her and answer all her questions. We told Nicole what happened when she sat at the table and I loved her reaction (Cool!). There was even a Chinese dragon there, now that was cool!

We then proceeded to the Pacific Mall for some shopping. We then went to the Mandarin for dinner. I love the Mandarin, all you can eat buffet! We had great conversations about everything from the blips in the process we've experienced, infertility treatments, governmental procedures and more. It was a riot!
Thank you everyone for such a great time! We really need to get together on a regular basis.
